 Sunday School Instructor

                                   

Age: 18-25    

Work Days: Sun-Thurs 

Times: 10AM-4PM

Position Summary: Sunday School Instructor (SSI) will develop age appropriate materials. These classes will be held weekly on Sundays and the SSI will use the remaining days to prepare for upcoming classes as well as assist in the preparation of all the Annual Summer Church Youth Programs.

On a regular basis the SSI will meet with the Church's Youth Program Supervisor, Fikre Alemneh at the church. The designated onsite church contact for the SSI  will be Alemayehu Zenebe.

Main tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develops curriculum for the two age groups

  • Constructs quizzes and interactive learning methods for the students to enhance fun-learning experiences

  • Promotes Sunday classes with flyers and announcements at the church

  • Registers and records regular class attendance  

  • Organizes and arranges periodic youth discussion forum on general life topics and/or workshops on certain subjects that relate to employment, motivation, mental health, etc in which guest speakers could be invited to facilitate

 

Required skills and qualifications:

  • An asset if candidate is fluent in Amharic and English

  • Has good understanding of the EOTC faith and practices

  • Has engaging and inspiring presentation skills

  • Able to develop creative learning materials/methods for the classes

  • Follows instructions well and has good writing/reading skills

  • Has good interpersonal skills (able to work both independently and as part of a team)

  • Must have good time management skills and be able to finish tasks on time

  • Must be responsible and have organizational skills

  • Must be punctual and reliable

  • Must have computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, Website and Social Media management ability)

  • Previous similar experience is an asset

 

 

      Youth-Program/Event Coordinator                               

Age: 18-25

Work Days: Sun-Thurs     

Times: 10AM-4PM

Position Summary: The Youth-Program/Event Coordinator (YPEC) develops, promotes and organizes all of church youth programs and social recreation events over the summer. In addition, YPEC will provide support to Sundays Youth Breakfast Club and be the church's youth volunteer coordinator.

 

On a regular basis the YPEC will meet with the Church's Youth Program Supervisor, Fikre Alemneh at the church. The designated onsite church contact for the SSI  will be Alemayehu Zenebe.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Plans summer social activities and events for church youth  

  • Promotes youth activities and events with flyers and announcements around the church

  • Organizes parent discussion forum and life skills related workshops  for church members

  • Recruits, coordinates and manages church volunteers in the area of Sunday breakfast program and church ushers

  • Recruits youth volunteers to assist with the activities and events

  • Performs other job related duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Required skills and qualifications:

  • An asset if candidate is fluent in Amharic and English

  • Able to follow instructions, manages time well and finishes tasks on time

  • Has leadership skills and public speaking ability

  • Must have interpersonal skills (be able to work both independently and as part of a team)

  • Must have computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, Website and Social Media management ability)

  • Must be responsible and have organizational skills

  • Must be punctual and reliable

  • Previous similar experience is an asset

 

Office Administration Assistance

                    

Age: 18-25         

Work Days: Mon-Fri 

Times: 11AM-5PM

Position Summary: The Office Administration Assistance assists church's office administration staff with clerical tasks and responsibilities. The OAA will also help with developing, updating and maintaining the church's website and social media networks. 

 

On a regular basis the OAA will meet with the Church's Youth Program Supervisor,  Fikre Alemneh at the church. The designated onsite church contact for the OAA will be Alemayehu Zenebe.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Answers and directs calls when needed

  • Organizes cabinets, handles files and other administration related tasks

  • Uploads information to church's website and social media as requested

  • Coordinates and manages youth ushers during church service days

  • Assists church administration with other tasks when required

  • Provides support and assistance administratively to the Youth Program & Event Coordinator and the Sunday School Instructor, as well as help with the annual summer church youth programs/events

  • Performs other job related duties as assigned by supervisor

 

Required skills and qualifications:

  • An asset if candidate is fluent in Amharic and English

  • An asset if candidate has good mathematical and writing skills

  • Able to manage confidential materials ethically

  • Possesses extensive data base knowledge

  • Follows instructions well

  • Must be punctual and reliable

  • Must be responsible and have organizational skills

  • Must have computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, Website and Social Media manage ability)

  • Must have good time management skills and able to finish tasks on time

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Previous similar experience is an asset
